Obituary of Edith C. Beck

Mrs. Edith C. Beck, 104, of High Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at her home, due to natural causes. Born on March 8, 1911 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Henry Eacker and Maude Hart Eacker. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School and continued her education attending Utica Business School. She moved to Fort Plain in 1939. Mrs. Beck worked for Harry Hoag School in Fort Plain for over 25 years. She was the Main Office Secretary and Secretary for the School Principal, retiring in the mid 1970's. Her secret to a long life was a positive attitude and her interests which included, reading, gardening, and walking. She was an avid Bridge player into her 100's. She attended the Fort Plain Universalist Church of the Messiah. Mrs. Beck was predeceased by her husband, Garner A. Beck; sons, Dana Beck, Larry Beck, daughter, Garna Beck; grandson, Michael Marsh; granddaughter, Wendy Marsh. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Beck of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Travis Richard and Nikki Beck-McGeough; nieces, Jody DiLoreto, Darcy Ball; nephews, Lance McAllister, Garth McAllister. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Edith C. Beck may be made to the Northeast Association for the Blind, 301 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
