Mrs. Mary Delores Fontes, 80, of West Main Street, Nelliston, New York died Monday evening, December 15, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on June 25, 1928 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of John Santos and Bella Mederos Santos. She had been a local area resident for many years, previously residing in Fall River, MA. Mrs. Fontes was of Catholic faith. Mrs. Fontes would get a huge smile when anyone mentioned going to Saratoga to the casino. She especially loved hearing from her nephew, Eddy, since he made a point to take her there. She loved playing Bingo anywhere she could find a card. Her love of her life was family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Fontes of Nelliston, NY; a daughter, JoAnn and Gary Fuller of Canajoharie, NY; two sons, William Fontes of Fall River, MA, Robert and Kimberley Berthold of Nelliston, NY; two brothers, John Santos of CT, and Edward Santos of FL. Mrs. Fontes is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
