Obituary of Janet Kathleen Lambert

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janet Kathleen Distelberg was born to John Adrian Distelberg and Irma (Vanderstad) Distelberg on the 20th of April, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey. Janet passed away unexpectedly on the 26th of February, 2017 while vacationing with her family in Ocala, Florida. The Distelberg family lived in Midland Park until moving to Sharon Springs, New York in in 1958 to pursue a career in farming. While attending Sharon Springs Central School, Janet met her future husband, Raymond Frank Lambert, and they were married on the 13th of October, 1962. They settled in Sharon Springs and shortly before the birth of their first son, Scot, Raymond joined the Army and the young family relocated to Texas. Janet and Scot returned to Sharon Springs, while Raymond served overseas in Korea. Upon completion of military service, the family settled in Waterford, New York. In May of 1967, they welcomed the unexpected arrival of twins, Sean and Eric. In the spring of 1973 the young family moved to Lake George, New York in pursuit of a grand new adventure as the owners of Adirondack Camping Village. Jan and her husband Ray dedicated tireless hours working the newly developed property, building a warm and inviting family operated business. Thousands of campers were welcomed by Jan in the office, creating many lasting wonderful relationships for over forty-four years. Jan was an incredibly kind, soft-spoken woman, who loved her family more than anything and gave unselfishly to her friends and family. Jan especially loved spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. She treasured her early mornings, at the campground, tending her flowers. During the winter months Jan, Ray and family enjoyed travelling and camping throughout Florida, creating many fond memories. Jan appreciated a funny story, a rousing game of cards or a good board game with her friends and family, all usually accompanied with a dose of laughter. Jan's accepting and gentle spirit will be truly missed by her friends and family. She is preceded by her parents, John and Irma Distelberg. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-four years, Raymond, three sons, Scot and his wife Victoria of Lake Louise, AK, Sean and his wife Micki of Lake George, NY, and Eric and his wife Sherry of Macedon, NY, eleven grandchildren (Dylan, Carson, Hunter, Finnegan, Alaina, Elijah, Jared, Ryan, Christian, Salina, and Brittany), & five great grandchildren, her brothers Robert Distelberg of Brattleboro, VT & John Distelberg Jr. of Oak Ridge, TN. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 5:30pm at Caldwell Presbyterian Church, 71 Montcalm Street, Lake George, NY 12845.
