Walter V. Scott Walter V. Scott, 94, formerly of Abeling Street, Canajoharie, New York died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Palatine Nursing Home in Palatine Bridge, New York. Born in Little Falls, New York on August 1, 1915, he was the son of Clark and Hattie Ward Scott. Mr. Scott was educated in the Little Falls Schools. He lived in Little Falls, moving to the Canajoharie area in 1955. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver for Lane Construction Company of Fultonville, New York for 33 years retiring in 1982. Mr. Scott was a veteran of the US Army Air Force serving during World War II with the rank of master sergeant. He was of protestant faith. He was a member of the Little Falls Masonic Lodge, former member of the Canajoharie/Fort Plain B.P.O.E. #2621, member of the Smith Schultz Post #222 American Legion of Canajoharie, and a former member of the Teamsters' local union #294. Mr. Scott was married June 7, 1945 to Susan Vdoviak. She predeceased him on June 14, 1965. He was also predeceased by one brother, DeWitt Scott. He is survived by his son, Alan Scott and his wife Linda of Fultonville, New York, his daughter Gail Coppernoll and her husband, Tom of Canajoharie, New York, his half-brother Clark Scott and his wife, Phyllis of Randolf, Massachusetts, five grandchildren, Tracy Yurkewecz, Tara Smallwood, Adam Scott, Jena Coppernoll and Ian Scott, three great-grandchildren, Jayla Smallwood, Lillian Scott and Simon Yurkewecz , his longtime friend, Betty Davis of Fort Plain, New York , several nieces and a nephew. A funeral service for Mr. Scott will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, New York with Rev. Elaine Berg officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Little Falls, New York. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family has requested donations be made in Mr. Scott's memory to Alzheimer's Disease Association, Pine West Plaza, Building 4, Suite 405, Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, New York 12205, Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, PO Box 453, Palatine Bridge, New York 13428, or American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, New York 12211.
