Obituary of Gordon H. Borst

Mr. Gordon H. Borst, 89. of Kahn Road, Fort Plain, NY died on December 25, 2023, at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown, NY. He was born in Sprakers, NY on June 26, 1934, the son of Frank Borst and Florence Swartz Borst.

Most recently Gordon had been working in the maintenance dept of the Fort Plain School, he had been there over 13 years. Prior to that he had worked for the Town of Minden, Town of Root, and the NYS Highway Dept.

He was a member of the Freysbush United Methodist Church and enjoyed woodworking.

On February 6, 1954, in Sprakers, NY he married Norma Jean Rice, she predeceased him on September 4, 2014.

He was predeceased by his parents, and brother Franklin Borst and sister Doris Phillips.

Survivors include his seven children Dawn Hisert, Barb Failing, Gordon "Bucky" Borst, Candy Borst, LaVerne Borst, Paul Borst, and Faith Ann Borst, 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will hold services privately and at their convenience. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

The burial will take place at Fort Plain cemetery.
