Obituary of James E. Rouse, Sr.

Mr. James E. "Boone" Rouse, Sr., 71, of Maple Ave, Canajoharie, NY died on December 23, 2023, at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown. He was born on July 18, 1952, in Amsterdam, NY, the son of Milton W. "Rawhide" Rouse and Josephine Ott Rouse, both who predeceased him. 

He lived his entire life in the local area. He graduated from Fort Plain High School, class of 1970. 

Most recently he worked at the Sharon Springs Wal-Mart distribution center as a forklift operator. Prior to that he worked at Beech-Nut, Canajoharie, also as a forklift operator.

Boone was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, and teach others to hunt, He also enjoyed trap shooting and spending time with his family.

On November 14, 1981, in Fort Plain NY he married Lori Jeanne Oeser, who predeceased him on April 8, 2018.

Survivors include his children; daughters Rebecca Logan and Darcy Rouse; sons James E. Rouse Jr., and his wife Ashley, Adam and his wife Jamie Field and his youngest daughter Jaime Field; grandsons Wyatt, Jackson, and Colton, and two granddaughters. 

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday December 28th, 2023, at Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral service will follow immediately at 7:00 PM with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating.
