Mr. Robert H. Varin, 77, longtime resident of Palatine Bridge, NY lost his battle with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and entered into Glory on Monday July 3, 2023, at Albany Medical Center with family by his side.

He was born at home on July 23, 1945 in Ilion, NY to Marion Barnes (Varin).  He was a graduate of West Winfield Central School, Class of 1965. 

In 1966 Robert married his best friend and the love of his life, Jacqalyn D. Varin (Foster), who sadly passed away in 2018. 

In 1973, he received Christ as his Savior and never had any regrets.  He was an active member of Faith Bible Church in Sprakers, NY.  A passage he held close to his heart was Isaiah 55.

His family was very special to him.  In 1978 he was predeceased by his son, Benjamin William Varin.  He is survived by his daughter, Christine Lee (Robert Dettmer); son, Robert Daniel; son, Thomas Howard (Paulette); daughter, Dana Drew (Jason Hogan – predeceased 2022); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He worked for many years as a Dairy Farmer and then Agricultural Salesman for Agway, Crop Production Services, and Tri-Valley Crop Center until he retired in 2018.  He founded Supply Wagon Rentals in 2008 – it brought him immense joy to start a small family business and help it successfully grow throughout the years.

Bob was very talented athletically throughout his life and enjoyed a wide range of activities, you name it, everything from grease pole climbing and skydiving to his most current and perhaps safest bowling and golfing. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends, cooking delicious meals, yearly summer trips to NH, skiing and spending time outdoors, teaching his kids and grandkids to swim, taking care of his yard, rooting for his son at the racetrack (18 and 00), and playing games at the dining room table. 

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at the chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego St. Canajoharie, NY 13317.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 4pm at Faith Bible Church, 106 Crosby Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 with Rev. Mark Kelly, pastor officiating.  Burial will take place at 10am on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Cedarville, Cemetery in Ilion, NY.
