Obituary of Donald Darling

Mr. Donald A. Darling, 78, of State Highway 67, St. Johnsville, NY, died June 15^th, 2023, at the Palatine Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Mr. Darling was born in Little Falls, NY on January 22, 1945, the son of Harry Darling and Marlyn Prevost Darling, both who predeceased him.

Donald was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1963. Where he was FFA member.

His first job started in his school years, 1963, where he worked on his family’s dairy farm, Darling Dairy Farm, which he did until 1974 when it was sold. After this he spent 35 years with Suburban Propane, as a deliveryman.

He was a member of the Freysbush United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing horseshoes, watching NASCAR, and tinkering in and around the garage.

For about ten years he enjoyed being a snowbird with his wife, going to Florida, as well as traveling.

On August 9, 1969, in Fort Plain, NY he married Barbara Asher, who survives.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Darling; brother Larry Darling; sisters Carol and her husband Homer Buddles; Beverlee and her husband Bruce Dingman; Godson Tyler Folmsbee; many friends and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00-12:00noon on Tuesday June 20th 2023, with a funeral following at noon, at the chapel of Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
