Mr. Congdon Hoyer, 85, of Reid Street, Fort Plain, New York, died, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness. Born on December 21, 1924 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of William Hoyer and Lena Crouse Hoyer. He attended Fort Plain Schools and was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Hoyer was employed by Lifesavers, Inc. in Canajoharie, NY, in the Sanitation Department, retiring in the 1990's. Previously he worked in the construction of the SUNY University in Albany and the Egg as well as many other projects. Mr. Hoyer also worked for the Railroad for a short time walking the track. He volunteered at Palatine Nursing Home for many years in the activity department. He was of Protestant faith. Mr. Hoyer was a member of the Laborers Construction Union. He loved hunting, playing cards, and country music. On March 26, 1993 in Fort Plain, NY, he was married to Yvonne Snyder. He was predeceased by his first wife, Isabella Hoyer on February 5, 1979 and brothers, Frederick and Tommy Hoyer. Mr. Hoyer is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hoyer of Fort Plain, NY; step-daughter, Jacquie Walsh of NC; step-son, Michael Snyder of Fort Plain, NY; brothers, William Hoyer of Venice, FL, Ernest Hoyer of Fort Plain, NY, Robert Hoyer of St. Johnsville, NY; sisters, Marlene Etherton and Pauline Lyle both of Fort Plain, NY; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
