Mrs. Cynthia (Cindy) Bellinger Smith, 65, passed unexpectedly on February 14, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on November 15, 1956 to Theron and Marilyn Bellinger of Canajoharie, NY. After graduating from Canajoharie High School in 1974 she attended Arizona University. She returned to Canajoharie in 1977, for a short time. She then moved to Marion County in Florida in 1980, where she met Phillip Hooker and married in 1984. Together, they had two children, Stephanie Hooker and Phillip Hooker. Cindy later remarried in 2007 to James (Hoss) Smith. She relocated for her job to Jacksonville, FL in 2010. Cindy was a talented and much respected mortgage underwriter for over 35 years. Cindy loved going to the beach, lounging by her pool and spending quality times with her family and friends. She will be missed by many. Cindy is survived by her children, Stephanie Hooker (Will) of Jacksonville, FL, Phillip Hooker (Kailey) of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Debbie Christman (Barry) of Fort Plain, NY, Amy Lawton of Gloversville, NY; granddaughter, Madison Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; aunt, Janice Webb of Charlotte, NC; as well as many nieces, and nephews; special friends, Pat Beyer and Mary Clayburn. Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Theron Bellinger and Marilyn Bellinger; brother-in-law, David Lawton. The family extends an invitation to a Gathering of Remembrance on Saturday, March 26, from 2:00-4:00PM at Erie Station, Fort Plain, NY. Visit with the family, share memories and laugh as Cindy would want us to do.
