Obituary of Victor L. Nestle, Jr.

Mr. Victor L. Nestle, Jr., 78, of Clark Avenue, Fort Plain, New York, died peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital after a personal battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Little Falls, New York on December 17, 1942, the son of the late Victor L. Nestle, Sr. and Pauline Gray Nestle. He lost his mother from cancer when he was 13 years old and lived on the farm with his grandparents, Homer and Mable Nestle, helping out with farm chores. He graduated from Fort Plain High School in June 1960. He remained on the farm. Victor was a lifelong resident of Fort Plain. On July 31, 1965 he married, Yvonne Casler, daughter of Ada and Gerald Casler in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Fort Plain. Together they celebrated over 55 years of marriage. He worked for LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie until he retired. In July 1989 Victor and Yvonne purchased their current home in Fort Plain, living in it for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting with his father, brother, and son and was real proud when a trophy deer was caught. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, and camping trips with his family. He loved his cars and enjoyed watching football. He loved watching his grandsons in Track and Field, Football, and Basketball. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and in-laws; brothers, Wayne in October 2017 and his sister-in-law, Maureen. Victor is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Nestle; daughter, Sherri Lynn Congdon and her husband, Fred; son, Kevin Matthew Nestle; grandchildren, Ashley Anne Marie Brownell and Jordan Michael Brownell (Andrea), Hunter Congdon; brother, Gary Nestle and his wife, Nicki; sister-in-law, Bonnie Nestle; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00-7:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
