Mr. Curtis H. Potter, 73, of Potter Lane, Fort Plain, New York died, Monday, November 29, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady following a brief illness. Born on November 15, 1937 in Coventry, Rhode Island, he was the son of Harold F. Potter and Beryl E. White Potter. He was a graduate of Coventry High School, class of 1955. Mr. Potter then attended the University of Rhode Island for Agriculture for several years. He had been a local area resident since 1971, previously residing in Coventry, RI. Mr. Potter was the owner and operator of Potter Farms in Fort Plain as a dairy farmer until his son and daughter-in-law took over the family business. Prior to owning the dairy farm in Fort Plain, Mr. Potter, had a dairy farm in Coventry, RI, until moving to Fort Plain in April 1971. During his younger years he pedaled milk with his own bottled milk route. Mr. Potter was a member of the Canajoharie Co-op for 32 years, the Farm Bureau for 30 years, and the Cherry Valley Masonic Lodge. His favorite hobby was to go to auctions on Tuesdays in Central Bridge. He was a great friend to the Amish Community and was known for trucking livestock. On January 2, 1982 in St. Johnsville, NY, he was married to Sally Dingman. Mr. Potter was predeceased by his son, Curtis Ray Potter in 1962. He is survived by his wife, Sally Potter of Fort Plain, NY; children, Diana J. and Donald Whiteman of Fort Plain, NY, Harold D. and Glenda Potter of Fort Plain, NY, Joanne C. and David Bramer of Connersville, IN, Nelson M. Potter and Fiancé Shelley Crouse of Fort Plain, NY; step-children, Pam Mulder of SC, Bonnie and James Crews of Fort Plain, NY, Ann Mulder of Nelliston, NY; brother, James and Becky Potter and Aunt, Marion Bate all of Coventry, RI; 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
