Mrs. Elsie J. Sanders, 77, of Gerhartz Road, Palatine Bridge, New York, died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born on September 29, 1933 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Charles T. Gehring II and Esther A. Stefanacci Gehring. Mrs. Sanders attended Fort Plain Schools and was a lifetime area resident. She was a food inspector for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for 31 years, retiring in September 1995. Mrs. Sanders was a member of the Saving Grace Baptist Church in Fonda, NY. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and reading. On May 21, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain, she was married to Cecil C. Sanders. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Sanders is survived by her mother, Esther A. Gehring of Nelliston, NY; husband, Cecil C. Sanders of Palatine Bridge, NY; sons, Calvin Sanders and Heidi Linke of Ilion, NY, Chris and Betty Sanders of Palatine Bridge, NY; daughters, Cynthia and Richard Moxham of Fort Plain, NY, Carol and Randy Crabill of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Charles Gehring III of Altamont, NY; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the Spring.
