Mr. Richard J. Etherton, Sr., 81 of Main Street, Fultonville, New York, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at his son's home with his family following a long illness. Born on July 30, 1929 in the Town of Minden, he was the son of Clarence Etherton, Sr. and Madge Madison Etherton. Rich spent most of his life in Fort Plain. Mr. Etherton worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie as a security guard for many years, until his retirement. He also worked for Landmark Farm for many years. Rich was a Veteran of the US Marines, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He attended the Fort Plain Reformed Church. Mr. Etherton was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Earl Stock Memorial Post #3275. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, taking walks and working on the Horse Farm, caring for the Race Horses. He was a big Yankees fan. He was predeceased by his brothers, Clarence, Gerald, Wallace, Donald and Robert Etherton. Mr. Etherton is survived by his son, Richard J. Etherton, Jr. and Kelly of Fultonville, NY; daughter, Regina and Donald Slater, Jr. of Gloversville, NY; 15 grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
