Mrs. Arlie J. Miller, 82, formerly of Brightman Street, Nelliston, New York, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, following a brief illness. Born on May 1, 1928 in Johnstown, NY, she was the daughter of Benjamin Danforth and Viola Green Danforth. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, class of 1946 and was a lifelong local area resident. Mrs. Miller worked in Beech-Nut's Credit Department for approximately 10 years then went to work for the Ben Franklin Store in Fort Plain for many years. She was a member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miller was an Exempt Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Plain Fire Department, a member of the Women's Society of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church and the Afternoon Circle of the Church. On April 22, 1950 at the Fort Plain Reformed Church, she was married to Robert Miller, Jr. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2000. Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughters, Robin Ossian of Gilbert, AZ, Kathy Maddox of Iowa,LA; son, Brian R. Miller of Tempe, AZ; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Services will be announced in the Spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
