Mr. Leland E. Hoke, 85, of St. Route 168, Fort Plain, New York, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, NY with his family by his side. Born on July 17, 1925 in VanHornesville, NY, he was the son of Raymond Hoke and Myra Keller Hoke. He was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Hoke was the owner and operator of the Hoke Farm for over 40 years. After working on the farm, Mr. Hoke was a Highway Supervisor for Herkimer County for over 22 years. He was of Protestant faith. Mr. Hoke was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his family. Through his years of work and retirement, Mr. Hoke found great comfort and companionship from his farm animals and pets. He was predeceased by his half-brother, Lowell Eutermarks. Mr. Hoke is survived by his 7 children, Barbara Lacy of Johnstown, CO, Linda Butler of Punta Gorda, FL, Anthony Hoke of Starkville, NY, Kathleen Smith of Jordanville, NY, Ivy Foor of Herkimer, NY, Donna Jensen of Bellevue, CO, Peter Hoke of Ilion, NY; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nephews and cousins. Burial will take place in VanHornesville Cemetery in the Spring.
