Mrs. Virginia "Gini" Ceterski Frank, 87, of Arkell Hall, Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, New York died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born on November 6, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Albert Ceterski and Catherine Pikula Ceterski. She was a resident of the Canajoharie area for the past 65 years. Mrs. Frank was a graduate of Amsterdam High School, class of 1941. She then continued her education and graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1944. Gini was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY, and also did private duty nursing as well as being a supervisor at the Montgomery County Infirmary in Amsterdam, NY and Palatine Bridge Nursing Home in Palatine Bridge, NY. Mrs. Frank was an Officer in the US Navy Reserve Corps during World War II, serving as a nurse and was stationed in St. Albins near Jamaica, NY. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, a member of the Alter Rosary Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Esther #1264, who will gather at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church for her service on Saturday. Gini has traveled to China, Poland, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Panama, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, France, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia, Finland, Grand Cayman, Brazil, Canada, Peru, Egypt, Israel, Mexico and Puerto Rico, as well as Alaska, Hawaii and many other states. Gini enjoyed a lake house on Caroga Lake, NY, reading, gardening and socializing. On April 13, 1947 in Hagaman, NY, she married Walter M. Frank. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2007. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Michael A. Frank and a daughter, Elizabeth "Bette" Haase. She is predeceased by two sisters, Helen Chybion and Patti Rebollo; as well as in-laws, Norbert "Curly" & Cecile Frank, Gerald "Jerry" & Norma Frank, and William "Bill" McLaughlin. She is survived by her 7 children, Jane & Robert Hackmann of Lenox, MA, Carol & Carl Smith of Nashville, TN, Thomas Frank of India, Mary & Donald McClead of Gainesville, FL, Colleen & George Hunt of Fort Mill, SC, Donald Frank of Manchester, CT, Richard & Elizabeth Frank of Burbank, CA; 4 sisters, Arlene Ceterski & Vic Auerbac of Hamilton, NJ, Edith Ceterski Apgar of Olympia, WA, Frances Ceterski Short of Aurora, CO, Esther Ceterski of San Francisco, CA; 3 in-laws, Marion McLaughlin of Buffalo, NY, Irene McGibbon of Colorado Springs, CO, John Chybion of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Patti Haase, Mike Haase, Derek Hackmann, Hilary Hackmann, Katie Frank, Tanya Hunt and Aaron Frank. Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Cemetery in the Spring.
