Obituary of Viola Alkinburg

Mrs. Viola Alkinburg, 90, a resident of Arkell Hall in Canajoharie, New York, died Wednesday evening, March 10, 2011 at Palatine Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mrs. Alkinburg was born in Fort Plain, New York on January 14, 1921, the daughter of Reuben S. Swartz and Julia E. Yerdon Swartz. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Fort Plain Schools. She married Robert J. Alkinburg on October 12, 1940 in Fort Plain, New York. He predeceased her on February 2, 2004. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on their farm. She was of the protestant faith. Mrs. Alkinburg was also predeceased by her sisters, Geraldine Whiteman and Mary Gerhardt, and her brothers, Karl S. Swartz, Sr. and Reuben Swartz. She is survived by her sister Margaret Dittman of Gloversville, New York, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
