Mrs. Marion Cook, 91, of St. Hwy. 163, Fort Plain, New York, died, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Born on January 1, 1920 in Salt Springville, NY, she was the daughter of William Prime and Edna Nestle Prime. Mrs. Cook attended the Salt Springville School through the 6th grade then attended the East Springfield School. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Cook was most recently employed by the Fort Plain Elementary School as a cafeteria aide for a few years until retiring. Prior to working for the school she worked at the former Clyde Bank Knitting Co. in Fort Plain. She was a member of the former Salt Springville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cook was a member of the South Minden Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and served as treasurer for many years. On June 12, 1938 in Fort Plain, NY, she married William G. Cook. He predeceased her in death on October 7, 2001. She was also predeceased by sisters, Ethel Burns and twin, Mabel Cook; 6 brothers, William, Jr., Herman, Howard, Sydney, Emory and Merritt Prime. Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn M. & Gordon VanAlstine of East Springfield, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. & Mable Cook of Springfield, NY; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild several nieces, nephews and cousins.
