Obituary of Sandra Lee Gibson

Mrs. Sandra "Nana" Gibson, 67, of Canajoharie, New York, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, following a brief illness. Born on June 1, 1943 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Alfred Horning and Elizabeth Gauthier Horning. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1961. She then continued her education and became a Registered Nurse. She was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Gibson was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Starkville. She enjoyed gardening, interior decorating and taking care of her family. She was predeceased by her mother. Sandra was survived by her father, Alfred Horning of FL; companion, Kenneth E. Edick; daughter, Connie Veeder of Canajoharie, NY; son, George M. Gibson III and his wife, Nicci of Fort Johnson, NY; brother, Richard "Butch" Horning of Gloversville, NY; grandchildren, Frankie, Dillan, Dainara, Dawson, Christopher, Stephen, James; great-grandson, Christopher, Jr.; nieces, Jessica and Sarah Horning and several cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00am at St. James Lutheran Church, Starkville, NY, with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 4:00-7:00pm at Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 and on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 10:00-11:00am at the Church. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
