Bernice S. Dingman Mrs. Bernice S. Dingman, 88, formerly of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, New York died, Thursday, September 29, 2011 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Born on February 8, 1923 in Canajoharie, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph Stevens and Alzina Wessels Stevens. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, class of 1941 and a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Dingman was a mother and homemaker. She also worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie during World War II. She was a member of the Canajoharie United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dingman was a member of the Canajoharie/Palatine Garden Club and a charter member of Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service. On January 22, 1944 in Canajoharie, NY, Bernice married Richard Dingman. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1996. She was also predeceased by her brother, Donald Stevens. Mrs. Dingman is survived by her 2 daughters, Susan J. and Stephen Yuhasz of Fort Plain, NY, Jill Ann and Jeff Baker of Canajoharie, NY; 3 sons, David A. and Nancy Dingman of Sandy Creek, NY, Bruce S. and Connie Dingman of Canajoharie, NY, Richard M. and Kim Dingman of Fonda, NY; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 10:00am at Ames Cemetery with Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
