Mrs. Elizabeth Avis Garrison Zierer, 78, of Lafayette Street, Palatine Bridge, New York died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on March 28, 1934 in Starkville, NY, she was the daughter of Charles A. Garrison and Catherine Swift Garrison. She was a long time area resident and a graduate of VanHornesville Central School. Mrs. Zierer was a Quality Home Health Care Aide in Schenectady for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Freysbush. Mrs. Zierer was a member of the Canajoharie Women of the Moose, Chapter 987 for over 40 years. On February 18, 1986 in Fort Plain, Elizabeth married Stanley Zierer. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2008. Mrs. Zierer is survived by her 3 daughters, Virginia Eacker of Palatine Bridge, NY, Elaine Clark of Canajoharie, NY, Mary Louise Maia Silber of Knightdale, NC; son, Charlie R. Eacker of Amsterdam, NY; 3 sisters, Shirley (Sherwood) Dingman of Fort Plain, NY, Fay (Keith) Veitch of Fort Plain, NY, Edna (David) Bowman of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Ginger, Michael, Daniella, Jacob, Amanda, Christopher, Heather; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Zierer may be made to the Women of the Moose #987, Erie Blvd., Canajoharie, NY 13317.
