Obituary of Charles J. Smith

Mr. Charles John "Chaz" Smith, III, 48, of East Main Street, Nelliston, New York passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home. Born on March 4, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan, he was the son of Charles J. Smith, Jr. and Hiroko Smith and step-mother, Deb Smith. He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1982. Chaz was a proud assistant Coach for the Fort Plain Baseball Team. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and spending time with his step-grandchildren Zhayne and Maiya. He touched many lives at Lewies Market. Currently, Mr. Smith was employed with Richardson Brands. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Mr. Smith is survived by his 4 children; sons, Charlie and Zachary and their mother, Andrea Weakley; daughters, Tiffany and Taylor and their mother, Jill Smith; live in companion, Melissa Souvannason; 3 siblings, Allen Smith (Rhonda), Tracy Wilder, David J. Smith. He was the proud Uncle of Christopher, Joshua, Tyler, Kayla and Hunter. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
