Mr. Angel L. Cruz, 82, of Palatine Bridge, New York died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown following a brief illness. Born on April 4, 1930 in Rio PieDras, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Edwardo and Isabel Cruz. He had been a local area resident since 1950, previously residing in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently Mr. Cruz worked at Poly Ply in Amsterdam, NY. He worked for various leather and knitting Mills in Amsterdam prior to his employment with Poly Ply. He was of Catholic faith. Angel enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Cruz is survived by his companion of 25 years, Myra Fox of Palatine Bridge, NY; 2 sons, Luis A. Cruz of Norfolk, VA, Anthony Cruz of Marshalltown, IA; 3 daughters, Millie Ward of Melborne, FL, Rosemary Thompson of Marshalltown, IA, Judy Wood of Virginia Beach, VA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. Angel L. Cruz may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, 46 West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428.
