Obituary of Harold G. La Due

Mr. Harold G. La Due, Sr., 82, of Wagners Hollow Road, Fort Plain, New York died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his home. Born on July 27, 1930 in Hudson, NY, he was the son of Leonard La Due and Mabel Miller La Due. He was a local area resident for the past 13 years, previously residing in Hudson, Red Hook and Florida. Mr. La Due was a Veteran of the US Army with a rank of Private First Class. He was of Methodist faith. Mr. La Due was a member and Past Post Commander of the VFW Post #2566. He loved talking to and being around people. On April 25, 1953 in Worchester, MA, Harold was married to Dorothy Mae Miller. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Mr. La Due is predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Cowell. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae La Due of Fort Plain, NY; 4 daughters, Jeanette and Starr Jones of Waverly, VA, Deborah and Robert Scholz of Den Haag, Netherlands, Judith and David Green of Elk Ridge, MN, Anette La Due of Fort Plain, NY; 3 sons, Reginald and Renee La Due of Sebring, FL, Harold La Due, Jr. of Germantown, NY, Richard La Due of Bullhead City, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 9:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery in Canajoharie, NY with full Military Honors.
