Obituary of Miss Nancy J. Eckler

Nancy Eckler, 75, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 28th 2013, at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness. She was born on August 6th, 1937 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Eckler, who both pre-deceased her many years ago. She grew up in Nelliston with her parents until 1979 and then moved to Gloversville. Nancy attended Nelliston, Palatine and Fort Plain Central School. She then went on to attend Rome State School for two years. Nancy then began attending the Lexington Center Workshop in 1979 and later attended Lexington Senior Day Hab. She began living in the Lexington Residential Program in 1997 in Broadalbin and later moved to a home in Northville. Nancy was an avid quilter and enjoyed cross stitching, reading, and animals, especially her cat Hemmingway. She enjoyed traveling, putting her feet in the ocean in Maine, loved Bingo, Scrapbooking and most importantly her church family at Broadalbin Baptist Church. She is survived by Kathleen Gardner of Ohio, Janet Bronk of Fort Plain, several other cousins and her longtime friend Ann Jones. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd 2013 at 12 noon at the Broadalbin Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Philips officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Plain Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the Broadalbin Baptist Church. Memorial Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Broadalbin Baptist Church, 40 W. Main Street, Broadalbin, NY, 12025. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
