Obituary of Georgia F. Howell

Mrs. Georgia F. Howell, 83, of State Highway 5, St. Johnsville, New York died Friday, August 09, 2013 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born on February 17, 1930 in Hillburn, NY, she was the daughter of Ralph and Minnie May. Mrs. Howell and her husband purchased their retirement home in 1977 and made a more permanent move to the area in 1984. Mrs. Howell retired in 1984 from the janitorial department of Ramsey High School. Prior to working for the school she was a seamstress for Rainbow in Suffern, NY. Mrs. Howell was also a mother and homemaker. She attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames, NY. Mrs. Howell enjoyed puzzles, word search books and her family. On December 31, 1946 at the Presbyterian Church in Airmont, NY, Georgia was married to William Howell. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2007. She was also predeceased by all her siblings. Mrs. Howell is survived by her 4 sons, Randy Howell and Bonnie of St. Johnsville, NY, William "Steven" Howell and Maria of Palatine Bridge, NY, Wayne Howell and Theresa of Hawley, PA, Richard Howell and Diane of Canajoharie, NY; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Maxson officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 12:00-2:00pm at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
