Obituary of Marilyn R. Schroeder

Mrs. Marilyn R. Schroeder, 79, of Mathias Ave., Amsterdam, New York died Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam. Born on September 22, 1934 in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of Seville Reulein and Mabel L. Carpenter Reulein. She was a graduate of Cascadilla School in Ithaca. Mrs. Schroeder was a mother and homemaker in Canajoharie for many years, later moving to Amsterdam. She also worked as a home health aide and CNA. She was of Catholic faith. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Group while living in Canajoharie. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, which included watching their sporting events. Marilyn was an avid Amsterdam Rams Football supporter. On November 12, 1955 in Ithaca, NY, Marilyn was married to Henry J. Schroeder, III. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1995. She was also predeceased by her brother, Seville S. Reulein, Jr. She is survived by her son, Henry J. (Jay) Schroeder, IV and his wife, Laurie of Amsterdam, NY; granddaughters, Monica Lynn Schroeder of Amsterdam, NY, Danielle Marie Schroeder of Amsterdam, NY; grandson, Henry J. (Joey) Schroeder, V of Amsterdam, NY; her dog, Molly and cat, Tigger. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery in the Spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Marilyn R. Schroeder may be made to the Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Inc., 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166.
