Mrs. Virginia P. Vosburgh, 89, formerly of Shaper Ave. Ext., Canajoharie, New York died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on April 3, 1924 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Guiseppe Stefanacci and Assunta Rufoloni Stefanacci. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1942 and was the class Valedictorian. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Vosburgh worked for Beech-Nut in the K-Rations Department for 1 year. She then worked for Montgomery County Public Health Service as a Secretary for 6 years. Following her employment with the County, Mrs. Vosburgh assisted her husband on their Dairy Farm of Blaine Road for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church. Mrs. Vosburgh was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Catherine Esther #1264. She was also a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau District 8 and was Chairman of the Woman's Committee, member of the State Women's Committee of the Farm Bureau, served on the Board of Directors of Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Co-Chairman of Agriculture in the Classroom, member of Agriculture Awareness Committee of Montgomery County, Kitchen Conference of Canajoharie, Canajoharie Senior Citizens, Volunteer at Fonda Fair for the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and member of the Fort Plain American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. On October 24, 1946 in Fort Plain, NY, Virginia was married to Earl W. Vosburgh. Together they celebrated over 67 years of marriage. Mrs. Vosburgh was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret P. Gehring, Esther A. Gehring, Alma M. Ouderkirk; brothers, David Trombetta and Silvino Stefanacci. She is survived by her husband, Earl W. Vosburgh of Canajoharie, NY; son, Steven E. Vosburgh of Canajoharie, NY; 3 daughters, Leslie Bell (Richard) of Canajoharie, NY, Pamela M. Hawkins (Paul) of Arapahoe, NC, Deborah Vosburgh (Rusty Capece) of Nelliston, NY; 5 grandchildren, Jason Granger (Michelle), Gavin Granger (Amy), Kelly Hawkins, Adrianne Bell Fowler (Travis), Aaron Bell (Heather), Richard A. Bell (Genevieve); 1 step-grandson; 2 great-grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; 3 step-great-grandsons; 2 step-great-great-grandsons; 4 sister-in-laws; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Virginia P. Vosburgh may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, 46 West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205.
