Obituary of Edna M. Murphy

Mrs. Edna M. Murphy, 82, formerly of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Palatine Nursing Home. Born on May 18, 1931 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Floyd Wheeler and Mabel Muhlebeck Wheeler. She was educated in Fort Plain and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Murphy was a Nurse's Aide at the former Montgomery County Manor in Yost for 14 years. She also worked as a Nurse's Aide for Palatine Nursing Home and the former Canajoharie Nursing Home. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. On May 21, 1950 in Canajoharie, NY, Edna was married to Irvin "Bud" Murphy. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1990. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard Wheeler and Walter Wheeler. Mrs. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Diana M. Murphy of Fonda, NY; son, Bruce A. Murphy of Fonda, NY; 3 brothers, Robert Wheeler of SC, Charles Wheeler of NY, Roger Wheeler of Thailand; as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Father Dennis Murphy officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Edna M. Murphy may be made to the American Heart
