Obituary of Richard Ray Hohenshild

Mr. Richard Ray Hohenshild, 88, of Freysbush Road, Fort Plain, New York, passed away peacefully Friday, May 9, 2014 at the St. Johnsville Rehab and Nursing Center. Born in Waterford, NY, November 27, 1925, he was the son of the late Mae and Russell Hohenshild. Mr. Hohenshild worked at LifeSavers in Canajoharie as a maintenance supervisor for 44 years, retiring in May 1987. He enjoyed his home and gardening. Richard was predeceased by a son, Clifford Ray Hohenshild; grandson, Curtis Baxter; sister, Blanche Waldron; brothers, Edward Hohensheldt and Louis Hohenshild. Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Lou Hoffman Hohenshild, whom he married August 18, 1945; his children, David Hohenshild and his wife, Kathy of Utah, Barbara Moots and wife, Sandy of Delaware, Linda Buddles and husband, Gary Buddles of Fort Plain, Holly Hamel and husband, Bill Hamel of Johnstown; sisters, Gloria Grey of Fort Plain, Helen Thompson of Palatine, Violet Hohenshild of Florida; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his dog, Ayla. Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
