Obituary of Elizabeth Ruth Redmond

Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Gutheinz Redmond, 92, formerly of Walnut Street, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Born on September 21, 1921 in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph A. Gutheinz and Mary Daniels Gutheinz. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, Utica School of Commerce, and the Nursing Program at Utica Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Redmond was a mother and homemaker. She was also employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses in the Utica area during the 1940s. She was a member of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Church in Canajoharie. Mrs. Redmond was a former member of the African Violet Association and former member of the Utica Bridge Club. On February 7, 1948 at St. Patrick's Church in Utica, NY, Elizabeth was married to James T. Redmond. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2002. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Marion, Laura, Joseph, and Ruth. Mrs. Redmond is survived by her son, James D. Redmond of Erie, PA; granddaughter, Sharon Redmond of Wilmington, NC. The celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 15-19 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY. Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Canajoharie, NY. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Redmond may be made to the Salvation Army, Empire State Division, 200 Twin Oaks Drive, Syracuse, NY 13206.
