Obituary of Susan Carol Buddles

Mrs. Susan Carol Buddles, 72 of Fort Plain, NY passed away January 16, 2015at her home, surrounded by her family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1942 in Hollywood, California she was the daughter of Frank Perez and Mary Jane Ridler. She spent her childhood in Mexico and moved back to California where she was a graduate of Hollywood High School. On January 13, 1962 she married Homer L. Buddles, III. Homer and Sue raised three children while traveling during his career in the United States Navy. When he retired in 1979 they moved to Fort Plain and have resided there ever since. Sue was employed as a secretary for the Bob Putnam Insurance Agency before she began work at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in 1991. She began as a corrections officer and was promoted to Lieutenant. She retired from the Sheriff's Office in 2005. Most recently, Sue served her community as a Judge in the Town of Minden for the past six years. Sue had also volunteered for the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corp. for many years. Sue was known as a diligent worker and always had the best interests of her community in mind. Besides her husband, Sue is survived by her Son, Jon E. Buddles of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 Daughters and Son-inLaws, Sharon and Robert Hoffman and Rebecca and Jeffery Smith both of Fort Plain, NY; 2 Brothers Randy and Janice Perez of California, and James and Lynn Paris of Texas; her beloved grandchildren: Jon and Luke Buddles, Justin, Amber, and Ashley Smith, and Sarah Hoffman; and her great grandchildren: Chloe, Joshua and Cassius; and many other family and friends. The family invites friends and relatives to visitation from 4-7 PM, on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. A service of Catholic Faith will follow at 7:00PM at the funeral home, with Fr. Kenneth Swain officiating.
