Obituary of Richard H. Hubschmitt

Rev. Richard Hubschmitt, 73 years old of Randall, New York, went home to live with the Lord on January 24, 2015 at the Mountain View Hospice Home. He was the son of Frank and Helen Hubschmitt. His life was one of love, compassion, and servicing others. He was a blessing to his family, friends, and everyone who met him. Richard was well known for his knowledge and collection of antiques. He also had a gift for growing and arranging flowers. His home in Randall was a show case for his flowers, statues, trees, bushes, and various decorations. Richard also recently enjoyed decorating the Currytown Reformed Church, which he attended, with a different decor every month. Rev. Hubschmitt served in the United States Army, serving in the Financial Department in France. He also had been employed with Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, Central National Bank in Canajoharie, and GE in Schenectady. Richard attended North-Western Seminary in Iowa where he received his Masters Degree in Divinity. He also received his Masters Degree in Psychology and Counseling. He served as Pastor for many years at the Germantown Reformed Church before retiring. Rev. Hubschmitt moved from Germantown, NY to Randall, NY in 2011. Richard has three sisters, Margaret Hubschmitt Reynolds of TN, Norma Jean Hubschmitt of Utica, NY, Rev. Jane K. Hubschmitt, NP of Sprakers, NY. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Hubschmitt; 2 brothers, Thomas and James Hubschmitt; and sister, Rev. Carolyn Hubschmitt Moyer. Richard will be missed by all who knew him. The family rejoices that he is now with his Creator. A memorial service will be held at the Currytown Reformed Church on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00am with Rev. William Faulkner officiating, with a hour of visitation prior to the memorial service from 10:00-11:00am.
