Obituary of Miss Beldora Emma Christman

Miss Beldora Emma "Snooks" Christman, 83, of Ephratah, New York died Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam, with her family by her side. Born on July 12, 1931 in Ephratah, NY, she was the daughter of Larkin J. Christman and Margaret C. Smith Christman. She attended Ephratah and Johnstown schools and was a lifetime area resident, living with her sister and brother-in-law for close to 20 years. Miss Christman most recently worked with her mother on the family farm that she took over after her father became ill. She also worked for Johnstown Knit, Scottsmoores in Johnstown, and the former Arkell and Smith Sack Factory. She attended the former Ephratah Methodist Church. Her 3 brothers, Robert, Richard, and Jacob Christman predeceased her. Snooks is survived by her sister, Barbara and Al Kirby of Canajoharie, NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 1:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 12:00-1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ephratah Rural Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Miss Beldora Christman may be made to the charity of one's choice.
