Obituary of Marjorie C. Hayes

Mrs. Marjorie C. Hayes, 86, most recently of Arkell Hall, Canajoharie, New York went home to her Lord Thursday, March 23, 2017. Born on May 10, 1930 in St. Johnsville, NY, she was the daughter of Henry Adelbert Myers and Clara Henrietta Thompson Myers. She was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, Class of 1949 and was a lifelong area resident, spending most of her life in St. Johnsville. Mrs. Hayes retired from Beech-Nut in Canajoharie in 1992. She had also worked for LifeSavers in Canajoharie and Palatine Dye for many years. She was a member of Seeker's Fellowship in St. Johnsville, NY. Margie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed trips with the Senior Citizens, shopping with family, crossword puzzles, and playing games on her tablet. She wasn't afraid of technology and often kept in touch with family and friends through facebook. On August 13, 1949 at the Baptist Church in Ames, NY, Marjorie was married to Harry Harold Hayes. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1987. Her grandsons, Harold Richard "Ricky" Hayes, Christopher Augustus Hayes; brothers, Stanley Myers, Alvin Myers; and sister, Austie Mayberry also predeceased her. Mrs. Hayes is survived by her son, Richard and Darlene Hayes of Richmond, VA; daughters, Elaine and Danny McFee of Crystal Lake, IL, Eileen and Ronald Kretser of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Peter Allen and Janie Hayes, Tracy and Jason Cooper, Kristy and Marshall Morici, Nicole and Charles Barber, Sheena Kretser and William Pierce, Savannah Kretser; great-grandchildren, Josh, Lauryn, TJ, Nadia, Olivia, Clara, Rosemary, Ziva, Asher, Lincoln, Piper, Abel; sister-in-law, Bertha Myers of St. Johnsville, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10:00am at Valley Alliance Church, Route 5, Nelliston, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 3:00-6:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in West St. Johnsville Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Marjorie C.
