Obituary of Colleen A. Lyker

Mrs. Colleen A. Lyker, 60, of W. Lykers Road, Sprakers, New York passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 2, 2017. Born on March 21, 1957 in Cooperstown, NY, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Ruth Morrison. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, and attended the Academy of the Holy Names. She was a lifelong resident of Sprakers/Lykers. Before starting a family, Colleen worked for Nathan Littauer and Catholic Charities. She then worked for Lykers Farm/Leucher Feed Store, where she raised a family with co-owner and husband, John Lyker. Colleen also ran her own bakery and preserves business called Wyfee's Farm Goods. Mrs. Lyker was passionate about baking, cooking, gardening, taking care of animals, and singing with the Valley Choralaires. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Town of Root Historical Society. On May 27, 1978 at St. Vincent de Paul, in Cobleskill, NY, Colleen was married to John H. Lyker. Mrs. Lyker is survived by her husband, John H. Lyker of Sprakers, NY; 3 children, Katherine M. Ioannou and Pano of Middleburgh, NY, Elizabeth A. Lyker and Carl Coutts of Waynesville, NC, Daniel J. Lyker and Renee of Charleston, NY; as well as many loved siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. On Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 4:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY the family is inviting relatives and friends to celebrate Colleen's life. This will be a time for family and loved ones to come and share laughter and stories of Colleen. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Colleen A. Lyker may be made to Cherry Valley Community Health Care, 2 Main Street, Cherry Valley, NY 13320.
