Obituary of Edward F. Jacksland

Edward F. Jacksland, Jr., 76, of St. Hwy. 10, Palatine Bridge, New York, died Friday, February 1, 2008 in Sarasota, Florida following complications from hip surgery. He was born in Palatine Bridge, NY, on January 22, 1932, the son of Edward Jacksland and Helen S. Suits. Mr. Jacksland was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and of Bryant College. Mr. Jacksland was the previous owner, president, and CEO of the Hearn Agency. He spent his retirement years with his family. He was a lifelong resident of Palatine Bridge, owning secondary homes over the years in Quebec, Canada, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Lake Placid, New York, and Sarasota, Florida. Known and loved by many, he was a member of numberous clubs including the Ft. Rensselaer Club in Canajoharie, the Eccentric Club in Gloversville, the Ft. Schuyler Club in Utica and the Royal Canadian Beaver Club in Montreal; where he was sworn in by his personal friend, John Dunn, at that time a General in the Canadian Armed Forces. Mr. Jacksland was an avid sportsman. He traveled the world extensively over the years to China, India, the Arab Emirates States, Dubai and Africa to name a few. He and fellow traveler John Knox, attended the Paris Air Show for a number of years. Edward married Dolores Thompson on February 9, 1952 at the Canajoharie United Methodist Church in Canajoharie, NY. He is survived by his wife Dolores Jacksland of Palatine Bridge, NY; his sons, EJ Jacksland and his wife Dawn of Palatine Bridge, NY, Craig Jacksland and his wife Elaine of Palatine Bridge, NY and Lance Jacksland and his wife Cindy of Palatine Bridge, NY. He is also survived by his sister Betty Lou and her husband Richard Gros of CT, and his granddaughters, Morgan Jacksland and Samantha Jacksland.
