Ronald H. Kettler, 87, of St. Hwy. 80, Fort Plain, New York, died Friday evening, February 29, 2008 at Albany Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on April 18, 1920 in Fort Plain, NY a son of Howard Kettler and Lillian Cook. Mr. Kettler was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1939. He was employed at St. Joe Paper Co. in Rochester for 7 years and later was employed at Life-Savers in Canajoharie in the gum department, retiring in 1986. He lived most of his life in Fort Plain. Mr. Kettler was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fort Plain. Ronald was a member of Sprout Brook Rod & Gun Club, life member of the National Rifle Association, member of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association in Troy, NY. He was also a member of the Friendship Hunting Club in Fort Plain. He had been a private pilot since 1970. Mr. Kettler also enjoyed the outdoors, the Adirondack Mountains and his friends at the Avery Campsite. Ronald is predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Wetterau and Louise Wetterau Fox, both of Fort Plain and a brother, Willard H. Wetterau, Jr. of Florida. Ronald is survived by four nieces, Karen J. Fredericks of Sprakers, NY, Trudy Fox of Utica, NY, Cindy Wetterau Truax of Lakeland, FL, Marguette Smith Sutton of Lakeland, FL; a great nephew and a great niece.
