Obituary of Gordon A. Parsons

Mr. Gordon A. Parsons, Sr., 77, of Jansen Street, Fonda, New York died Friday, January 1, 2016 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born on February 22, 1938 in Rome, NY, he was the son of Charles and Florence Parsons. He attended school in Rome and was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Parsons was a machinist at White Mop Wringer Corp. in Fultonville, NY for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and riding his moped. On April 23, 1977 in Tribes Hill, NY, Gordon was married to Hadassah "Dixie" Parsons. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2001. His daughter, Cynthia Parsons Murray also predeceased him. Mr. Parsons is survived by his 3 daughters, Deborah Parsons and William Blowers of Gloversville, NY, Joyce Przybylo and James of Amsterdam, NY, Mary Jo Dutcher of Chatsworth, GA; son, Gordon A. Parsons, Jr. and Sara of Miami, OK; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his companion, Violet Leighton of Fultonville, NY; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 1:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 12:00-1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fordsbush Cemetery in Fort Plain, NY in the spring.
