Obituary of Earl J. Cotton

Mr. Earl "Jim" Cotton, 71, of Wagners Hollow Road, died unexpectedly at home. He was born in Little Falls, NY March 21, 1951, the son of Earl A. and Beverly Kretser Cotton, both who predeceased him. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1969. Jim retired from the Montgomery Co. DPW in Fonda, NY and continued working for J.P. Trucking and Paving. He was a lifetime area resident, and of Methodist faith. He was also a member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed hunting. He was pre-deceased by his son, Jeremy Cotton; sister, Debra Warner; brother, Edward Cotton; and great-grandson, Tanner Dillenbeck. He is survived by his son, Shawn and Kim Cotton; daughter, Shea and Tom Bowman; significant other, Cindy VanPatten; siblings, Elizabeth Pettengill, Robert Cotton, Charmaine Dingman, and Susan White; grandchildren, Austin, Shawna and Jayde; great-grandson, Tatum; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Visitation will take place on Friday April 22, 2022, from 4:00Pm to 7:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
