Obituary of John Dowd

Mr. John Dowd, 79, of Humphrey Road, Town of Charleston, NY passed away at his home unexpectedly on March 16, 2022. He was born July 16, 1942, in Cohoes, NY, the son of Hugh Patrick Dowd, and Bertha Martin, and stepson of William Martin, all who predeceased him. John served his country with the rank of E-5 in the United States Navy, enlisting after graduating high school. He retired from the NYS Dept of taxation and finance as auditor and had served on the Town of Charleston board for a time. He was predeceased by his sisters Jeanne Dowd, Dolores Schoonbeck, and a nephew Justin Schoonbeck. Survivors include his sons, Patrick Dowd, and Michael Dowd; Sister, Anne Marie Howell; grandchildren, Conner, Ryan, Jack and Rachel; Nieces, Lucinda Caruso and Lisa Seymour. The family invites anyone who wishes to attend a committal service to join them at Gerald B.H.
