Obituary of Peter Cook

Mr. Peter C. Cook, 77, Stone Arabia Road, Fort Plain, NY, passed away unexpectedly February 5, 2022, at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. He was born in Fort Plain, New York, on October 25, 1944, the son of William and Anna Grainer Cook. Pete attended a one room schoolhouse outside of Fort Plain, then went onto school at the Fort Plain High School. Pete worked as a heavy machine operator for the Town of Minden for 37 years. He lived in the local area his entire life, was of Christian faith, loved hunting and fishing with his daughter Ann, being around his grandkids, and visiting with the town boys, over coffee. On April 14, 1973, in Fort Plain, New York he married Donna Goodell, she predeceased him on January 27, 2017. He is survived by his daughter and son in law; Ann and Chuck Knoblauch; stepdaughter, Donna and Roger Clark; stepson, Harvey Cook; sisters, Shirley Coleman and Beverly Pitcher; sister-in-law, Alicia Cook; grandchildren, Bubba, Sarah, Seth, Evan, Ethan, Emily, and Sue; step-grandchildren, Shawn, Stephan, Kayla, Alycia, Michelle, and Kiera; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents; sisters, Rose Estes, Margaret Wolowice; brothers, William Cook, Samuel Cook, and an infant brother. The family invites friends and relatives to calling hours on Wednesday February 9th, 2022, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral service will be held on Thursday February 10th, at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution please do so to a charity of one's choice.
