Mr. Ralph C. Swartz, 91, of Dygert Street, Nelliston, New York died Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home. He was born September 22, 1930, the son of Ralph Swartz and Marjorie Armstrong Swartz. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Swartz worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for many years as a Boiler Room, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Attendant, retiring in the early '90s. He owned and operated Swartz's Greenhouses and raised mink. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain. Ralph played in a Softball league. He enjoyed fishing and tying flies. He was a very devoted husband and father. Ralph was married to Thelma M. Morton at the Fort Plain Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2018. His son, Brian Paul Swartz and daughter, Cheryl Swartz also predeceased him. Mr. Swartz is survived by his 5 children, Karen Bennett of Mayfield, NY, Robert Swartz and Christiane of Nelliston, NY, Timothy Swartz, Ralph Swartz, both of Fort Hunter, NY, Willard Swartz and Darlene of Amsterdam, NY; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with burial following in Fort Plain Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 9:00-10:00 at the church. Contributions in memory of Mr. Ralph C. Swartz may be made to Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
