Obituary of Shirley D. Putman

Mrs. Shirley D. Putman (nee Coleman), 97, of Fort Plain, New York died January 3, 2022, after a brief decline, having been a resident of the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehab Facility in St. Johnsville, NY since May of 2019. Born in Stone Arabia, NY on August 19, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Dora (Heroth) Coleman Cramer and the late LeRoy Coleman. Shirley was a strong and independent woman who loved God and His word, sharing the good news of the Lord Jesus wherever and whenever she could. She loved her family and many dear friends. She enjoyed working and held a variety of jobs over the years starting with General Electric in Schenectady, NY. She helped run a Christian Book Store in Nelliston for many years. She even tried her hand at Beech-Nut LifeSavers for a while. She finished out her working career being a nanny to several local families. We all shall forever miss her. Shirley is survived by her 2 daugthers, Sherrie D. Mitchell and Debora A. Short; sister, Alicia B. Cook; sister-in-law, Shirley Coleman; 3 cherished grandchildren, Torrence F. Cogan (Jackie), Kimberly A. Versocki (William), Stephanie L. Oldick; 6 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Elmer H. Putman and daughter, Charlene S. Pomichter. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Shirley D.
