Miss Alyssa Cheyenne Parrino, 23, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, New York earned her Angel Wings on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at her chosen home in Menands, surrounded by her family and special nurse, Melissa "Captain", following a hard fought 4 year battle with leukemia. Born on January 13, 1998 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Thomas M. Parrino and Karen Kern Nurnberger. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 2016 and of FMCC, Class of 2017. She attended Utica College and was accepted to SUNY Poly. Most recently Alyssa was working as an Administrative Support Assistant for Albany Med Birth Place. She was a former CNA and Caregiver for Palatine Nursing Home. She worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk at Dover Honda and did various private care jobs for those in need in our community. She was a lifelong area resident, growing up on Brower Road in Palatine Bridge. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames. Alyssa was a Distinguished Alumni of FMCC. She was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the National Junior Honor Society. She earned the Palatine Literary Society Award, Michael Krug Memorial Award, Kathleen "KC" Smith Congdon Memorial Scholarship, and the FMCC College Foundation Scholarship. She was very proud to be part of the FMCC Early Admission Program. In high school Alyssa played Volleyball, Softball, Track and Field, and was a Cheerleader. She played violin in the orchestra and clarinet in band. She was in chorus and select chorus. She enjoyed mudding and loved spending time with her nephew, Gage. She wanted nothing more than to watch him grow, which she will continue to do through a bird's eye view. Her brother, Branden Michael Parrino predeceased her on December 19, 1993. She was also predeceased by her gram, Patricia J. Foland; grandfather, Thomas H. Parrino; great-grandparents, Betty and Wilfred Oest, Minnie and Emory Pitt; aunt, Joan Herringshaw; great-aunt, Michele Waddell; and cousins, Kevin Moak, Jr. and Ryan Moak. Alyssa is survived by her mother, Karen and Bob Nurnberger of Fort Plain, NY; father, Thomas Parrino and Dawn Failing of Palatine Bridge, NY; brother, Keith Parrino and Trista Ferrara of Palatine Bridge, NY; sister, Kelsee Parrino of Palatine Bridge, NY; nephew and light of her life, Gage Parrino; grandmother, Margaret Arndt of Fort Plain, NY; pop, Hal Foland of Canajoharie, NY; aunt, Judy Hennessey of Canajoharie, NY; uncle, Kevin Moak of Canajoharie, NY; god-father, John Doyle, Sr. of Long Island, NY; god-mother, Fabiola Hartlieb of Canajoharie, NY; god-daughter, Gracelynn Honeywell; best friend, Richelle Fuhs of New Hampshire; uncle, Charlie and Stacy Parrino of Canajoharie, NY; aunt, Melissa and Deane Cooper of Virgnia; step-family, Bill and Esther Nurnberger, Lucas and Makena Nurnberger, Kory Failing, Michael Shostek; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 3:00-7:00PM at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ames Cemetery.
