Mrs. Evelyn A. Bernstein, most recently of Stuart, Florida, and formerly of Walnut Street, Canajoharie New York passed away on December 5th, 2021. She was born in Nelliston, NY October 5, 1936, the daughter of Carl A Getman and Alwilda M. Monk. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1954. Mrs. Bernstein was employed at Beech-Nut in the strained foods department for 27 years. She enjoyed flower gardening. She was of Methodist faith. On July 2, 1955 at the Fort Plain Methodist Church Evelyn married Robert L. Bernstein, who predeceased her. Her son, Michael Allen Bernstein; brother, Carl A. Getman, Jr.; and sister, Gwendelyn J. Getman also predeceased her. She is survived by her two daughters, Nona J Varnadore (Keith) Terre Lynn Gifford; three grandchildren, Ashlee Turczyn (Gary) Branden Bernstein (Bianca), and Madison Gifford; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring with date and time to be announced. Local arrangements are being handled by Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
