From landlord to ’green team’ superhero (at VBS), early morning jogger to driveway shoveler (all by hand), ‘Patch’ leader and preacher, study buddy and Institute classmate for my husband Bill—- for Gwen, Emily and maybe Sam( though he was still pretty young) these are a few memories that we share from what seems like a lifetime ago. My these memories bring you comfort. I received great comfort from Psalm 61 especially this phrase from verse 2: “lead me to the rock that is higher than I when my heart is overwhelmed.” My prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

My condolences to the May family. Tom & I shared many memories and stories at the softball field in Central Bridge. I enjoyed his company and the many stories he told. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.

To family & friends of Thomas May;
A poem that has helped our family with loss.....
"Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.

Tom and I went to school together. He was one of the nicest boys in school; kind to everyone and always had a smile on his face. I would ask Alan how Tommy was whenever I saw him (he would take my mom to her doctor appointments from River Ridge). Alan would laugh at me because I called him Tommy. I am so sorry for your loss. May God wrap his arms around you all and guide you through these next challenges days ahead.

Dear Tom, you always made me feel part of the family. Since day one you embraced me with open arms. I’ll never forget the first year I met Emily, you took us to the Jersey Shore - all expenses paid. You then insisted on giving Emily and I the biggest room in our beach vacation rental and slept on the couch instead. This was just a small instance of what was emblematic of your generosity. Your kindness and warm heart was your gift to this world. Your humor was infectious and your light hearted nature will always be a reminder to us that life is meant to be lived with pleasure. I love you.

Our prayers and love goes out to the family. I remember Tom’s love and care for me as his pastor and for my family. He was a faithful servant of the Lord while at Valley Bible Baptist Church, and a graduate of the Baptist School of the Scriptures.
