Obituary of Mary E. Abeling

Mrs. Mary E. Abeling, 90, of Maple Avenue, Canajoharie, New York died Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at her home, following a brief illness. Born on February 20, 1931 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Albert Putnam and Elizabeth Hayes Putnam. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Abeling worked for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie, retiring from the x-ray department in the early 1990's. She enjoyed golfing until her late 80's, going to Myrtle Beach, and spending time with family. On March 24, 1961 at The Fort Plain Reformed Church Mary was married to Charles Abeling. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2013. Her grandsons, Eric Yauney, Bradley Greenbury; and sisters, Alberta Cagwin, and Eleanor Millington also predeceased her. Mrs. Abeling is survived by her daughters, Donna and Ronald Young of Fort Plain, NY, Diane and Alan Yauney of St. Johnsville, NY, Debra and Dixon McFee of Fort Plain, NY, Dolores Fuhs of Lexington, KY; son, Kenneth and Joanne Abeling of Naperville, IL; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Millie Millington, Shirley Davis, Carol Ann Arduini; brother, LaVerne Putnam. A graveside service will take place privately at the convenience of the family at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Mary E.
