Obituary of Doris B. Phillips

Mrs. Doris B. Phillips, 87, of Reed Street, Canajoharie, New York passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown, following a brief illness. Born on May 18, 1932 in Sprakers, NY, she was the daughter of Frank Borst and Florence Swartz Borst. She attended Canajoharie Schools and was a lifetime area resident. For 39 years, Doris was a Machine Operator for LaSalle Labs, retiring December 1997. She enjoyed spoiling her grandkids, and watching gameshows. She was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. On December 6, 1969 in Freysbush, NY, Doris was married to Francis J. Phillips, Sr. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1997. Her brother, Franklin Borst also predeceased her. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her sons, Francis J. Phillips, Jr. and Marguerite of West Virginia, Robert A. Phillips and Carrie of Canajoharie, NY; grandchildren, Derek Phillips, Emma Phillips, Evangeline Wilcox, Carolyn Phillips; great-grandchildren, Everett Phillips, Ariyah Edgett; brother, Gordon Borst; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Noon at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Darlene Spaulding officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00-12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Doris B. Phillips may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
